ENCRYPTIX, INC. UNVEILS ULTRA-SECURE SERVICE FOR PURCHASE, DELIVERY AND REDEMPTION OF VALUE OVER WIRELESS NETWORKS
Company Showcases Industry-First, Wireless Delivery Service At DEMOmobile 2000
PASADENA, CA (DEMOmobile 2000) – September 6, 2000 – EncrypTix(TM), Inc., a majority-owned subsidiary of Stamps.com (Nasdaq: STMP), will debut an industry-first service that will enable the ultra-secure purchase, delivery and redemption of a ticket or other value bearing instrument over a wireless network. Offering the highest level of security available for commercial transactions, the new service provides an end-to-end wireless transaction solution by allowing consumers to purchase and take instant delivery of value items such as tickets, gift certificates, and boarding passes into PDAs, handheld PCs, and Internet-enabled mobile phones. As a result, the wireless device becomes the actual ticket or value item, and can be “scanned” at a venue for verification purposes.
As a provider of highly secure storage, delivery and authentication services, EncrypTix will enable its partners to instantly deliver value-bearing items directly to their customers’ wireless devices, offering a more instantaneous and convenient alternative to will call, overnight courier, or other delivery methods. The company’s strategic partners include industry-leading companies such as American Express, Disney and Loews Cineplex. Additionally, EncrypTix is working closely with wireless handset and device manufacturers to establish a secure platform so value items can be delivered to any mobile or wireless device.
“Our secure delivery service will complete the transaction value chain in the wireless world,” said Jim Rowan, president and CEO of EncrypTix. “At DEMOmobile 2000, we will demonstrate how consumers can use their Palm or other wireless device to purchase and take immediate electronic possession of a movie ticket; this is only one example of how our service will enable the secure wireless delivery of virtually any type of value item, such as a gift card or boarding pass.”
EncrypTix was hand-selected to demonstrate at DEMOmobile 2000, screened from more than 400 potential demonstrators. On Thursday, September 7 at 9:05 a.m., EncrypTix will deliver an on-stage presentation of this new service using a wireless PalmÔ VII device and infrared redemption scanner. The service will also be on display in the demonstrator pavilion at booth number 24. DEMOmobile 2000 will take place September 6-8 at the Ritz-Carlton Huntington Hotel in Pasadena, CA.
