STAMPS.COM NAMES SENIOR CANON EXECUTIVE AS EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT AND GENERAL MANAGER OF RAPIDLY GROWING SMALL BUSINESS UNIT
SANTA MONICA, Calif. – April 11, 2000 – Stamps.com™ (Nasdaq: STMP), the leading provider of Internet mailing and shipping services, today announced that Peter Bergman, vice president of marketing and customer care for Canon Inc. (Nasdaq: CANNY), has joined Stamps.com as an executive vice president and the general manager of its Small Business Strategic Business Unit (SBU).
Stamps.com recently announced the organization of the company around three SBUs: Small Business, Enterprise and E-commerce. As general manager, Bergman will manage revenue, sales and marketing and operations for the Small Business Unit, which provides companies with less than 100 employees Stamps.com’s Internet-based mailing and shipping services.

As vice president of marketing and customer care for Canon Computer Systems, Inc., Bergman spearheaded the development and implementation of Canon’s U.S. printer and computer peripherals business strategy and marketing plan, resulting in sales growth from zero to $1 billion in four years. Prior to joining Canon in 1992, he was director of product management for Epson America, Inc., where he was responsible for marketing and product planning. Bergman was also vice president, consumer marketing for Print Technology Inc., and served as a product manager at Atari, Inc.
Bergman holds an MBA degree from the University of Michigan Graduate School of Business. He earned a BA in Economics from the University of California at Davis. Bergman began his marketing career at Procter and Gamble.
