DELUXE AND STAMPS.COM FORM STRATEGIC ALLIANCE
ECommerce alliance to provide convenience for small businesses
St. Paul, Minn. and Santa Monica, Calif. (September 13, 1999) – Stamps.com(TM), the innovator of Internet Postage(TM) (Nasdaq: STMP), and Deluxe Paper Payment Systems, a business unit of Deluxe Corporation (NYSE: DLX), today announced a strategic alliance that will provide convenient access to the Stamps.com service for small businesses that order their checks and business forms at the Deluxe website (www.deluxeforms.com).
Beginning in October, Deluxe plans to offer the Stamps.com service on its small business Website, allowing small business professionals to conveniently purchase postage while they purchase checks and other mailing products.
Stamps.com plans to launch its federally-approved service Sept. 27. Stamps.com is the only purely Internet-based company to offer easy, convenient and cost-effective postage. The service enables customers to buy and apply postage using just their PC and an ordinary laser or inkjet printer, requiring no hardware, no set-up fees, and no special connections. Customers will use Stamps.com in three simple steps: download the free software, register and print directly onto envelopes or labels.
“This partnership allows Stamps.com to leverage Deluxe’s market leadership and customer base to bring our easy, convenient Internet postage service to small business professionals,” said John Payne, president and CEO of Stamps.com. “The Deluxe brand name and Stamps.com service make this a strong alliance that will serve small businesses well.”
“Deluxe provides compatible forms for more than 1,700 accounting software packages – documents that include checks, statements and invoices that need to be mailed out,” said Scott Schaefers, director of small business Internet marketing for Deluxe. “By working with Stamps.com we’re helping small businesses save time since they’ll be able to purchase their business checks and forms, and access postage, seven days a week 24 hours a day – all through one location.”
“This alliance between Deluxe and Stamps.com reinforces our commitment to provide the best business products and services available to small businesses via the Internet,” said Chuck Feltz, senior vice president of marketing and sales, Deluxe Paper Payment Systems. “We plan to continually add leading resources that are beneficial to small businesses as part of our e-commerce retailing strategy.”
