Here's everything you need to know.

On May 12, 2008, the U.S. Postal Service implemented a new postage rate increase for the majority of mail services including First-Class Mail®, Standard Mail®, Periodicals, Package Services and Special Services. Here is a summary of the USPS 2008 postage rate increase:

  • The USPS has introduced online postage discounts for Express Mail, Priority Mail and International services. Stamps.com customers can receive discounts of 3% discounts on Express Mail and up to 11% on Priority Mail shipments. Additionally, Stamps.com customers save 5% on Priority Mail International shipments and 8% for Express Mail International.
  • The price for one-ounce First-Class™ stamps has increased from $0.41 to $0.42.
  • Express Mail is switching to an industry standard, zone-based pricing system. This will result in lower prices for closer destinations.
