| Breaking News: USPS Announces Request for Rate Increase |
On Friday, the U.S. Postal Service requested a 5.4 percent increase in First-Class Mail and similar increases for their other mail services. The changes, which would go into effect next year, would raise the cost of a basic postage stamp from 37 cents to 39 cents. The Postal Service however, also took the unusual step of offering to withdraw the proposed rate increase if the Postal Reform bill before Congress is passed before the new rates are approved.
Stamps.com is in regular contact with the Postal Service, sharing the concerns of small businesses and individual users of the U.S. Mail. We know that this rate increase will affect you and your business and we will keep you informed as we hear about further developments.
